DIY fabric covered skateboards

What else is there to do on a wintery Saturday afternoon? I was lucky enough to be given a box of Marimekko fabric off cuts by a dear friend, whose partner owns a gorgeous gift store in Melbourne. They've been sitting there for a month or two now and I've finally decided what to do with them: cover a few old beat up skateboard decks to hang at home + use the remainder to make a quilt. I've never quilted in my life - heck, I can't even sew to save myself. (Hubby is the one who hems and mends at our place!) But I'm going to give it a try.
